KAZH Houston going from Spanish to English on Sept. 27

Right Now, There's an Infomercial for Planet Ford in Spring-and it is still en espanol. Can't they get everything done right here? I think KUBE's programming will probably consist of mostly Infomercials than old reruns.

Maybe their going to be a bilingual station because they still broadcast alot of commercials in spanish and after finally showing an actual show "Matlock" is now on they said something in spanish about weekends (sabado, I know) from 9a - 4p and lunes to viernes (I take it Mon - Fri) 9:30a - 11a.

Sooo... reading between the lines I would take it most of their english programming will come after that. Interesting, not sure if it will catch on though. I'll give it six months and their back to spanish. I don't go to a spanish station to watch classic tv sitcoms.

Is the KUBE short for the tube?

We'll see what happens.

It was good to see the 'Rockford Files' last night. The audio had a lot of drop outs. I don't know if the broadcast was that way, because I was watching it through Comcast.

Chuck it started in the evening. Wasn't liked that for the first half of the day. It continues today, ugh and I'm on Dish Network.

The audio was better, but KUBE repeated the same episode, "The Alphian Way" which was shown on Monday night's "Rockford Files."

Actually came across the KUBE while surfing late last night and watched an old Star Trek episode. It does look like they are trying to make a go utilizing programming using the traditional sales revenue model. They ran lots of promos for other programming in other dayparts. Commercials were of course Direct Response, probably PI. Give em credit for trying. Success is a longshot with the number of channels, networks, cable and satellite choices in today's universe, but give it up to them for trying.

And now the KAZH call letters will be moving to channel 51. Una Vez Más has applied to make that change when they take control. This is bound to mean that the Azteca América signal will be moving to 51.1.

That's a definite. Azteca America even supplied a consultant to Una Vez Mas in their battle against Spanish Broadcast Systems for the right to purchase the station. I believe Azteca is helping to finance purchase of the station.

Somebody needs to tell these cats at The KUBE, that the audio is SILL suffering from drop outs. This has gone on way too long. I understood the 1st day. By the 2nd day I thought, 'well they'll fix it soon." Now its been two weeks and the audio is still bad with the same problem.

They have KAZH requested at the FCC call sign system for KNWS and KAZD requested for KLDT in D/FW

Well, the schedule isn't as advertised. Only show actually shown since their startup was Saved by the Bell, everything else has been infomercials.

It figures that in the beginning, they make sure they CYA for the E/I requirements...

Saved by the Bell is not E/I material. It WAS a youth-oriented sitcom.

Yet "Saved" was used as an E/I program by many stations, even TBS, when the network also had Channel 17 in Atlanta.

They may have tried to use it as educational. Similar to Univision which tried to pass of a youth-oriented Telenovela as educational material.

I'm really enjoying my daily fix of The Twilight Zone on KUBE. I think it is great somebody is taking a chance at real TV again. So many try with just a handful of shows and repeat, insert infomercials and repeat again. Seems the cable model is if it aired at 8, repeat it at 10 and again at midnight.

I'm hoping for their success! Seems rather like the battle FM stations had in the 1960s, but lean budgets and dedicated staffs can make success happen. Sometimes you can win against great odds. Cable will give them an edge.

I'd love to see them take out the PI spots and roll something like a cartoon instead. There was an upstart TV station I heard of that did that with their unsold time.
