Boise’s jazz-and-news AM is going away on July 15, as Boise State University sells its only AM, KBSU (730). July 15 is when the LMA begins with buyer FM Idaho Co. LLC, doing business as Impact Radio Group. It’s led by Wendell Starke. They’re getting an AM with 15,000 watts daytime and 500 at night, and Boise State no longer needs the facility. It’s running the typical tandem of public radio services on its two full-power FMs – news and talk on KBSX (91.5), classical on KBSU-FM at 90.3. As for the jazz on KBSU-AM, the school may feel it’s got that covered with the Jazz Works full-time stream on the HD-2 channel of KBSU-FM, and of course online. The deal is for $165,000 cash, and Boise State is using the Exline Company as its broker.
