KCCI 8 News Anchor Steve Karlin announced that he will be retiring from the Hearst CBS affiliate in Des Moines, Iowa, on March 1, 2023.

Karlin joined KCCI Anchor Stacey Horst on the evening newscasts in 2015 following the retirement of longtime KCCI Anchor Kevin Cooney. Prior to that, he helped central Iowans start their day on KCCI 8 News This Morning from 2011 to 2015 and anchored KCCI 8 News at 5:00 from 1994 to 2011.

Karlin joined the KCCI team in 1989 as a reporter and weekend weather anchor. His popular Karlin Covers Central Iowa feature segment began in 1997. Karlin traveled the state, telling the stories of fascinating Central Iowans and the interesting things they do.
