Kesq TV advised on their 5 PM news cast that KPSI FM and KDES FM were sold to ALPHA media group (Morris communications ?) by R & R owners. No word on the cost or AM stations but seems like the tide is changing again in the Palm Springs market.
It looks like they are for sale as well. I saw a posting on a station Media Brokers web site offering for sale the two AM stations.
Maybe they are keeping one, maybe they have sold it and not announced the sale yet. Time will tell.
Could be. But I can't think of a worse scenario in all of radio than having a single, stand-alone AM in the Palm Springs market.
Yes AM 1340 KWXY is leasing that translator I think it is owned by some one else and it is an HD2 program on KDES-98.5 how this will go is unsure the 2 FMs still need FCC approval. As they used to say we'll just have to "stay tuned", according to the Desert Sun report the Alpha honchos use an "if it's not broke don't fix it" approach. Time will tell how this will go.

Actually right now 98.5 is the same as 106.9 ...
... have to wait till the dust settles on this one.
I have not followed the story, but what is the status of KWXY.
Well -- just what is left ?
KWXY and the translator ("Legend 107.3")
KPTR ("Progressive Talk 1450")
KPSI ("Newstalk 920")
KPSI-FM ("Mix 100.5")
KPSI went with the Alpha transaction.
That's interesting, David, since the FCC database now reflects that sale and both KPSI and KPSI-FM are still listed as under R&R Radio Corp. ownership ...
