Yesterday, KDFW made a huge announcement that Fox has bought property in Las Collinas to build a new state of the art studios for KDFW Fox 4 & KDFI More 27, the plan is to built a 50,000 Sqaure Foot 2 story studio on the vacant land on 2203 Royal Lane in Las Collinas where they will use fiber optic cables to broadcast once it's built instead of relying on Satellite and TV towers, because of this, they will say goodbye to the studios at 400 North Griffin Street in Downtown Dallas once the construction of the new studios is complete in 2026 (construction delays may happen as they do from time to time). they said all employees will relocate to the new studios once the move is complete in 2 years. the station's news set is the oldest in the market which debuted 18 years ago in 2006 during the slow rollout of the "My Fox" era design news sets and 2006-2009 "My Fox" graphics package that came when Fox started the "My Fox" branding on their TV Stations sites in the wake of News Corporation's ownership of Myspace.com back in the mid 2000s. The set had gone through minor updates since it debuted in 2006 but never replaced by a more modern LED based set. KXAS, KTVT & WFAA have all debuted new sets in the last 18 years since the KDFW set debuted, with WFAA most recent new set debuted in 2022 when the Victory Park Studios shut down and they returned to the Young Street and KXAS at the same time in 2022 debuted their set, the second since the move away from the iconic Broadcast Hill Studios to the current studios in 2013, KTVT newest set debuted in 2013.
this also came off the heels of the launch of a 4 PM & 6:30 PM newscast for KDFW.
The statement on the new studios:
We're moving! FOX 4 to build new studio in Irving
