KDJM "Jammin 92.5" to flip to "FREE FM" tomorrow morning (12/15) @ 9AM

KDJM "Jammin 92.5" is no more. KDJM expected to flip to "FREE FM" tomorrow @ 9AM. KDJM is currently running "Holiday Greeting" from members of the military to families here in the Colorado Front Range. They break in with a message refering to themselves as 92.5FM & to tune in tomorrow morning (12/15) @ 9AM for a major announcement regarding 92.5FM, when Denver radio will be set "Free".
______________

So... does someone pick up the Urban AC/Classic Soul format? I'm betting one of those ready-to-go move-ins would die to pick up the format, esp. given KDJM's following in the Latino community.
______________

I agree with you Safford. I'm sure that's why they have been waiting to launch any type of format on either frequency. Remember, that Steve Kinney is the one running those stations so I'm sure he could of had some inside info that CBS was gonna flip 92.5 to it's incline of "FREE FM" stations. It would be a smart move to pick up the Urban AC/R&B Soul format quickly now that CBS has dumped it.

AllAccess is reporting the station will flip to country.

While I did predict in October that KDJM would most likely be one of the Free-FM stations, something seems very screwy about the timing of this.

Why would Infinity er.. CBS Radio launch a Talk format on December 15th, when all of the talent will be going on a 2 or 3 week holiday break the next day?

So "Denver radio is about to be set free"? My guess is that it'll be set free from something like long commercial sets, dj banter, and the like.

All-Access says country and that makes a lot more $en$e based on the timing and KYGO's status in the market.

BTW, if anybody can record the flip tomorrow I'd love to add it to the Format Change Archive.
______________

Lance,

I find the timing weird as well. I never thought that a flip would be done now so close to the holiday's but with that said a flip is gonna happen. It's been up in the air for the last two months with rumors of Jammin' flipping formats. It's gonna be interesting to see what happens tomorrow morning. I've always trusted All Access for news but their post on Net News is wrong in a few ways...

ALL ACCESS POSTS:

KDJM Denver Changes Formats
INFINITY BROADCASTING Urban Oldies station KDJM (Jammin'-92.5)DENVER is currently stunting with holiday music. ALL ACCESS has learned that the station is about to spin the format wheel again. When the wheel finally stops it will be country. PD DERRICK BROWN and the entire staff are supposed to be out.

I emailed All Access earlier letting them know what was going on. They are saying that the stunting is with holiday music. They are NOT stunting with holiday music but with holiday greetings from military personal to their families here in Colorado. We have already known everyone is out and the liners they are airing from time to time say that Denver radio will be "free" like never before and they guarentee that Denver will be "talking". All Access could have it wrong and we will see what happens tomorrow.

Certainly, no one is arguing that AllAccess is the be all and end all when it comes to format changes. However, I will say that alluding to one format and going to another is very common in stunting. I've also seen stations stunt exactly this way, with the military tributes, when flipping to country. In fact, I even worked at a station that did something very similar when flipping to country right after September 11. It will be interesting to see what happens.

Kent,

All Access is very accurate in the info they give but you are right, it is hard to say when it comes to format changes. The stunting is very interesting and if in fact that CBS is trying to fool everyone with what everyone already believed it would change to in the "FREE FM" format and then actually changes to Country then it is really gonna be interesting to see how CBS takes on Jeff-Pilot and KYGO. They better be ready to spend lots of money.
______________

No kidding Dawn. Otherwise, it will only be KS(and we don't count 95.7).

That would be inexcusable for a top 25 market to only have one station try to serve 5 different ninches on the same frequency!
______________

Man...if it IS to country, they're again going into a fight with their hands tied behind their backs! That signal won't topple KYGO, just dent their armor...I know...I'm an alum of "Big Dog" and "Z!" It'll be interesting to see what happens later this morning...

Let's get someone to launch "Dawn FM", a station that picks-up one of the formats/niches abandoned recently in Denver, named after our own Dawn H.

And staff it live and local 24/7 with great personalities.

I'm flattered Joseph that you would like to name a station after me. :)
______________

Thanks Joseph. I can say other wise for some other people who really don't seem to like my opinions. I'm glad to know at least someone respects and finds my comments interesting and thoughtful. I've always found your comments and posts very interesting and I learn new info I didn't know everytime I read one.

Let me join this love parade. I'd say both of you post insightful, interesting things. Joe seems to dig deep and post about some interesting articles, stories, etc.
