KDRP Dripping Springs Radio moves to 103.1fm & 100.1fm

Was out in Dripping Springs and noticed their community radio station moved to 103.1fm & added another station in Johnson City at 100.1fm. I'm glad to see they are growing.

According to the FCC database they go from 17 watts on 99.9 to 5 watts at 103.1. But I guess they won't face WACO-FM beating on the them during the Summer tropo season. The Johnson City station is also 5 watts. I like that KDRP is hyper-local. I hope they don't lose that in trying to serve Johnson City, too.

They might escape KWTX, but KEEP in Bandera might be an issue.

Could this be possible?? I am north of Lockhart, I just did a few adjustments on my FM antenna and now I am pulling in 100.1. I don't like the new google maps of what the FCC uses now. I wish Radio-locator could get their maps updated.

Line of sight is everything with low power FM. According to the FCC FM Query the 100.1 licensed to Henly has a CP for 250 watts. Maybe they've built the upgrade.

That's what it seems since they've applied for a license to cover. 250 watts ERP at about 450 feet is fairly decent for a translator, so I'm not surprised about the reception around Lockhart. If I get inspired I'll do a Longley-Rice on it and see what it looks like.

So they have a 250-watt translator for a 5-watt originating station? Interesting. That's one way of getting around the 100 watt limit on LPFMs.

I wish I could get this station better in my truck, they got a good talk show in the morning.

My smartphone doesn't support it doesn't look like :(

Is KRDP, K261DW on the same tower that KTXX use to be on?
Its a shame they are not any stronger. Not a bad station.
