...to me, the most annoying element of NBC's Sunday night NFL coverage is that hideous retread of the great Joan Jett song "I Hate Myself for Loving You." Whatever NBC/Universal paid Joanie to license the melody, it just ain't enough to make us suffer through it...
...But you gotta admit, Faith Hill is an improvement over who NBC had singing it before.
No, it's not!!! Faith Hill should not be singing a rock song in the style of a country song!! Pink's version two years ago was sooooo much better because it was sung like the rock song it came from. I think the brass over at NBC want Sunday Night Football to be too much like Monday Night Football when it was on ABC (I think most of the production crew came from ABC) that they even had to change the opening theme to a country song which should have been a completely different song instead trying to cover a hard rock song with a country artist. I think I'm in the majority that thinks NBC should have just made SNF unique to the network and not like ABC's Monday Night Football moved to Sunday on NBC.
Uh, tell me if I'm wrong (I'm not, of course), but I would have sworn that there is something in this country called creative freedom. While I'm not part of things at Sunday Night Football, I'm guessing that the decision to change the theme was done by committee with demographics in mind.
Taking a rock song, and making it countryfied? Like that hasn't been done before!
Even if the majority of the production crew came over from ABC (which I highly doubt), wasn't Monday Night Football successful? If I was an NBC exec, I'd be feeling good about having a crew like that aboard.
It's obvious who you'd rather listen to, and that's fine, but be honest: Who would you rather look at?
