Keith Olbermann Threatened, Sent to Hospital After Powdery Substance Was Mailed

Keith Olbermann was the victim of a "terroristic threat" this week when someone in California sent him a letter filled with a white powdery substance. The letter contained unspecified threats related to Olbermann's criticisms of Bush Administration policies. An NYPD Hazmat team determined the powder was harmless, but Olbermann was checked over at St. Luke's Hospital as a precaution and sent home.

Of course, sending this through the postal system constitutes a federal crime, but the NY Post's Page Six went over the top characterizing Olbermann as "panicked" and "...doctors looked him over and sent him home. Whether they gave him a lollipop on the way out isn't known. Olbermann had no comment."

To the NY Post? Probably not.

I hope whoever did this is caught and punished.

And the NY Post is owned by News Corp., who owns Fox News Channel, so you what the NY Post is going to do.

I am glad Keith Olbermann spoke up. In this day and age when journalists are hiding in the nearest basement afraid to offend anyone, Keith has the courage to speak up and say everything the Bush administration has been doing since January 2001 was wrong.

Keith is probably the last remaning great journalist left in this country. His book is now #18 on the New York Times best seller list. I hope Keith keeps on with what he is doing, and the terrorist that did this is caught.

Oh please! Olberman a great "journalist"? By that definition, O'Reilly, Hannity and Rosie O'Donnell are journalists too. And, O'Reilly would be an even greater journalist, with four times the audience of Olberman.

Of course Olberman is a commentator, he has a niche and he has a healthy (though not huge) audience. I respect his accomplishments, but YOUR comments about him were as over the top as the unnecessary political opinions that preceeded them.

One thing we can agree on is the hope that whoever did this (more of an idiot than a terrorist) is caught and punished to the full extent of the law. Such shenanigans must not be tolerated.

Olbermann is a head case. He's had so many weird episosde and temper tantrums at every place he's worked, one wonders why he isn't institutionalized. It's sad that he hasn't sought real help for his mental problems. We'll continue to hear these weird stories about him until he does.

I fixed your statement. Typos can be tricky. No need to thank me.

LMFAO! That is classic. "tested" is one of a few who really should know what they're talking about prior to posting. Unless looking like a fool is OK to him/her.

Hey, the only ones who look foolish to me are the people who stick up for Olbermann. Oh... for the record, O'Reilly's a jerk - not a head case.

I'd be happy with a pay-per-view event where those two were locked in a cage and wound up killing each other.

And with the sender of the envelope thus emerges Olberman's nomination for today's worst person in the w-o-o-o-o-o-o-r-r-r-r-r-r-l-d.
