Kelly West and Bobby Quinn Fired from WARM 103 today

I love that the subject line is twice as long as the post.

But I hate that they got the axe. I never once listened to their show, because I'd rather be waterboarded than listen to soft rock.

But sweet mother of God, man. It makes you wonder if there's someone with a grand plan to have only one employee per radio station.

Kelly and Bobby, if you're reading this, best of luck to you.

There is a grand plan to have only one employee per station and that person would answer to a White House czar. :)

Good riddance. I heard she was a train wreck to work with. Non competes suck huh?

I "tolerated" their morning show, basically because anything else in the listening area is actually worse! IMHO...

Yeah, it does make you wonder what will happen to all stations when the dust settles...

Sounds like all that's left is flipping the switch to country.

Cumulus has made a mockery of Louis Appell and what was once the PROUD family of Susquehanna stations. Now it is just a lifeless husk of consecutive failures.

Sorry to hear about Kelly and Bobby. So now there are two more (aged 40 or 50+) radio pros on the street in South Central PA. Anyone keeping count of the radio fatalities in the last couple of years? Must be a dozen or more by now.

A couple of weeks ago WXPN played Harry Chapin's old song about the ups and (mostly) downs of the radio biz, "W O L D." The guy in the song ("feeling all of 45, going on 15") is pathetic, but as I listened to the song it occurred to me that, pathetic as he was, nowadays he would be considered lucky. He at least has a morning gig! Were he still with us, Harry could update that song where the guy has been replaced by automation and is working at Wal-Mart.

I'm told they actually played country for an hour with Tesh liners last night? WTF??? Anyone else besides my source hear this and again, WTF???

Really, katzradio? That morning show was better than the gang at the X? GTY?

Better than us at the Peak? Seriously???

I kind of think a good morning show mixes good chemestry, interesting personalities, timliness and hard work. I don't know either Kelly or Bobby. And while I certainly wish them well, I never walked away from that show thinking I knew anything about these people.

Getting fired sucks, and I am really not trying to kick anyone while they're down, but if I thought for a second that our show on its worst day was not far better than that one on its best, I'd personally hand you my headphones and walk away...

iMho...

Sorry to hear about more job losses in Central PA radio.

That being said...

When you are difficult to work with...
When you don't grow as a talent...
When you are unwilling to adapt as needed....
When management FINALLY realizes the effort you're giving doesn't come anywhere near the salary you're making...

and thinking you'll be able to get away with it in a BAD ECONOMY???

What do you expect?

The saddest part of all....In spite of the four points above.....

You got a second chance. And blew it.

The only question left to ask......"Where do I go from here?"

While I feel for anyone when they are fired... it's hard to feel anything for Kelly West.

What goes around comes around and you would be hard pressed to find a lot of people that have worked with her that are going to say a whole lot of nice things about her.

When you treat others like crap and think your own doesn't stink.... let's just say I speak for a lot of people when I say that I'm thankful for, "karma."

Good riddance.

Yes...Kelly got a second chance. My qustion is will WARM get a THIRD chance. About three years ago...when Cumulus first took over....the format change rumors were everywhere. WARM was playing around with the music and you could hear almost anything pop up. Then all of the sudden Kelly's back....and John Tesh as well. WARM was reinvented as a younger version of itself. Cumulus decided to give it another shot. It didn't translate into better ratings. Kelly has had three on air partners since she's been back. They didn't even get as big a spike over Christmas that many other AC stations normally get. Just a small spike. WROZ isn't setting the world on fire either with this format....but they have managed to lower the demos sonewhat. What's ahead....tune in Monday Morning for another exciting episode of "AS THE FORMAT TURNS"....or a fill-in place holder....or TESH IN THE MORNING. Nothing would surprise me at this point.

One only needs to go to the website to get a look at what's coming..at least in the short term....

Check out all the pictures...in a matter of days, this station has gone from being all about Kelly West to being all about TRACI TAYLOR.

A light weight at best. But when you're living with the PD, this shouldn't come as a surprise. Perhaps, payment for services rendered?

Hey Bob,

Sorry, guess I didn't really mean that, lol... I do like SOX & the Peak mornings...The only one I can't really take is the "X".. I listened to them for a couple of years, but I tired of their style - it's just not me...Although I didn't really care for Kelly, I don't wish her any difficulties, & I think her & Bobby had a good chemistry on the air...or maybe it was just that he basically carried the show. Whatever it was, I did like his quirky sense of humor. I will miss his presence.

Let us know if he resurfaces at another station?

CAPTAINS LOG....MONDAY SEPT 14TH. Traci Taylor in AM drive. John Trees (partimer?) in midday. Kelly's husband Mark was on doing news this morning. Sounds like they're blowin' it up. By the way...Kelly and Bobby...best of luck to both of you.

Yeah, best of luck, Since you were insufferable to work with, and not all that talented,
best of luck getting a job at Wal-Mart.
