Louisville Kentucky public broadcast stations brace for government funding cuts

Louisville Public Media seems to have weathered this pretty well, though that was expected for the larger urban stations. They did an emergency donor drive as soon as this funding was cut, and ended up making a whole lot more than what they needed to make up for the funding cuts. They may even be able to leverage this to add to what they offer.

People are getting way too excited about emergency fundraisers to fill gaps in funding.

We'll see if people in a difficult economy can continue to contribute. People have short memories.

Good conomy or bad, peopl are still buying their Starbucks in the morning or grabbing that 6 pack after their shift. People will find a way to pay for what is important to them. If public radio is, the state of the economy doesn't mean much. They'll cut back elsewhere to get what they like more.
