Kevin Richards on WROW’s “Magic 590/100.5” - 7/31/20 & 8/1/20

It’s been a month since my last post, but I posted two more from Kevin Richards on WROW’s “Magic 590/100.5” from both 7/31/20 and 8/1/20.

These are the last two shows that I recorded, and then, two days later, I took a vacation to Florida for the first time in a few years, and I can’t able to stream “Magic 590” because of geoblocking issues. That sucks! I hope when I come back to New York on September 8th, “Magic” is working again.

In the meantime, these two shows leading up to Kevin Richards’ last afternoon drive show which was the 2-5PM shift replacing Bob Johnson, but no word who is going to replace Kevin Richards for afternoons. This aircheck will include a portion of the 2nd to final week on the air. And then the next day, Kevin Richards did his 2nd to last show called the “Classic Country Hall of Fame” on “Magic 590/100.5” on August 1st, and you’ll hear just a portion of it. Originally I was going to recorded the last show before heading to Florida where I can’t to stream due to geo stricting rules.

And then, August 7th did his last weekday afternoon drive show, and the next day, August 8th was Kevin Richards where it did his final “Classic Country Hall of Fame” show for now, because Kevin moved to a new radio station which is WKBE’s “Big Country 107.1” which is a brand new station where it flipped from Hot AC’s “The Point” last month, and Kevin Richards started his own morning show, and then, the “Classic Country Hall of Fame” is now on his brand new home on “Big Country 107.1”, and it will be on Saturday mornings from 6-10AM in which I’m replacing Bob O on WGNY-FM’s “Fox Oldies”, because I’m tired of his show after a few years of listening to him on Saturdays, so I decided to have Kevin Richards over Bob O, and Bob O is now my favorite full-in host.

I checked the new station which is “Big Country 107.1” while I’m in Florida, and like I said, it won’t able to stream, because of this geo-stricting BS. By the time when I’m coming back from Florida, I will be recording Kevin Richards on his new home which is WKBE’s “Big Country 107.1” to host the “Classic Country Hall of Fame”.

And from 3-7PM, Kevin Richards is now doing Sunday afternoons on WROW’s “Magic 590/100.5” as part of the expanded “Sunday Golden Memories” replacing Dick Clark’s “Rock, Roll & Remember” since it has been canceled by the syndicated company by the end of July 2020. Thank god! I have a bunch of airchecks that I recorded from beginning in January right up until the end of July.

Anyway here are the last two shows that he hosted on “Magic 590/100.5” before I went to Florida.

Do you know why WROW geo-blocks? Not many stations do. I live in Florida but used to live in Albany and I'd like to be able to check out WROW sometime.

Geoblocking is done to prevent people outside a station's market from using the stream and running up rights fees for the station. Many stations think that there is no value in having online listeners outside the market area, and the cost can add up.
