KEZX, from the North side of Lake Union, again...

Hi
I'm new to the forum, but would like to comment on an older post.

In the 1980's KEZX Seattle offered a unique mix of AC, "Westcoast" singer-songwriter pop, AOR, and contemporary jazz. It was an early version of what evolved into the AAA format.

I was aware of the station in 1988, but never had the chance to hear it. Recently I received several hours of airchecks of KEZX from someone who lived in Seattle, and had the forethought to roll tape on the station. I was given the OK to post these recordings on his behalf.

If there is anyone else who enjoyed this station and rolled tape, please send me a PM, or post them on the board.

The files are 128/44.1 and can be found here:

So, ok.... I just wanted to THANK spiritof67 from the bottom of my heart. I was stationed at McChord AFB from 1984-1987, during which I developed a GREAT fondness for KEZX and their eclectic programming. I'm not a radio pro, so won't pretend to be, but seemed like they were doing a lot of adult contempo + jazz during the day & some cool new age stuff as it got dark out. They had the coolest female DJ with the most soothing voice who'd give us the news & tell us that all was well on the "north side of Lake Union." I fear that radio like this gone forever. It sure has been great, tho, listening to these old sound checks!! Takes me back!
