Yeah, so I'd be shopping online. Or maybe B&S or Home Depot, or Wal-Mart. Lowes is on the other side of Mount Pleasant.

If the buried part of the pole isn't painted or otherwise insulated, and it's buried deep enough to reach moist soil year-round (5-6 feet or more), it should be grounded OK. If it's painted or not deep enough, you can buy a copper ground stake at Radio Shack and hammer it into the ground, then clamp a grounding wire between it and the pole.

Even if this scenario is true, it certainly would not hurt to have redundancy in your grounding. Better safe than sorry.... ;)

All right. I'll get a CM 2020 when I can afford it and a grounding block. I guess I need a grounding rod as well ?

The 30 foot antenna I don't think has guy wires on it either and it gets a little floppy with the current antenna when I go to twist the pole and try different areas.. I guess that's something I might have to purchase later too (guy wires).

Certainly won't hurt.

Good idea. Without guy wires the antenna will sway in the wind, which could make your picture break up. And of course a big wind storm could bring the whole thing crashing down :(

All righty. I have no idea about setting up guy wires though. I assume I just drive the rod in the ground.. and hook up the grounding block with instructions :p . BTW: 30 foot pole.. not antenna
