The Golden State Valkyries of the Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA) have a new flagship radio station. It’s Audacy’s “95.7 The Game” KGMZ San Francisco. The team and the station

95.7 The Game will air radio broadcasts of the Valkyries once the WNBA Seasons starts.

Makes sense, KGMZ also originates PBP for the Golden State Warriors games.

I listened to the 95.7 broadcast on Friday night. It felt like the advertisers were rather limited compared to Warriors game; I remember for two straight commercial breaks during the second quarter they played the exact same spots including for concerts by Heart featuring Todd Rundgren, and another spot for a Jonas Brothers concert.

Both of those spots are for concerts at the Chase Center, which is the venue where the Valkyries play. So my bet is those spots are comp spots from the team. Not paid spots by a sponsor.

It's really too soon for the station to have actual paid spots. They have no consistent data on listenership yet.
