Prominent KGO San Francisco host Bernie Ward, who used to have a syndicated show during the mid-1990s, is in trouble.

Savage just brought it up on his show tonight. Savage says he hopes the charges aren't true. He said he listens to Ward but doesn't think most of his listeners will know who he was talking about outside of S.F.

Anyone remember his weekend show? I remember listening to it.
 
I remember hearing him on WLS in the late nineties. What he does on-air he does very well - beats the bejabbers out of most of what I hear via Air America...

Again, as with the other 12 or so fired or canceled liberal hosts in the past 3 years, you have to look for the true reason for the firing. Bernie was writing a book about hypocrisy, religion, etc., and as part of his investigation, obviously downloaded something that he shouldn't have. This was ILLEGAL. However, as a PD I would not use such a TECHNICAL violation of a law as a basis for termination of a host. I would have SUSPENDED Ward indefinitely until matters in court were resolved. Reminds me of the Mike Webb (KIRO) insurance change allegations, again, a liberal host getting high ratings employed by a far-right company, fired by KIRO. Again, Webb should have been SUSPENDED by KIRO, not fired.

Remember that the new owner of KGO is now the ultra-conservative Citadel. Let's look at hypocricy on their stations, like KKOB-AM in Albuquerque, where they allow Michael Savage to spout homophobic, racist remarks every evening in 17 western states on the skywave. Or, KXNT in Vegas, with 8 hours straight of Rush, Levin, and Hannity.

My best advice for you - If you are on the other side of the political fence of the talent in question, then please don't post about him, and tell your buddies Akronite and Maloney to do likewise.

This is sad and I hope it's not true. He's not only a nice guy but a good talent. And sorry to disagree with you but this is not about politics. Let him have his day in court and see what happens. But I know from where I've worked I'd lose two things my job and my marriage.

Tom... it appears part of my post was truncated. However, the topic is Bernie Ward, who I think is fantastic and I offer my best wishes to. What ISN'T the topic is the right-wing conspirators at Citadel or how having Rush on KKOB, a station 1,000 miles from where Bernie Ward sits, has anything to do with KGO.

Mr. Ward is in the entertainment business...content. Like a football player fighting dogs or a Hollywood Blond driving DUI, the parent company needs to protect it's Rep. Dr. Bill must be laughing about the way we don't care (yes, our Government) how Morale China is in this Dept. We do lots of business there, right?
As a country, we are in a very uptight place right now...it's ok, don't freak out. We are all extended family...right and left...you are all very cool, and dang....smart too. To be smart we must think, and maybe that is the Hallmark of the KGO Family...they make us think.
Mr. Ward's Pop was an Attorney and would understand the present process. Let the Rule of Law take it's course.
By the way guys (men) all it takes today is a call to 911 by your women, says you hit her...no marks...no proof...guess where your going..."Listen to the door slam". The country is getting more and more uptight....and they came for me, and no one was left to help.
