KGO Wins; KKSF & KCBS Blow in Local Breaking News

Update I listened to KGO during the talk hours on the weekend and it only focused on one topic the Martin Shooting in Florida (Zimmerman the Accused). While KCBS did 2-3 minutes on the shooting of 5 people in a house in San Francisco during the weekend and left the Zimmerman shooting to the network. Although KCBS did the Martin shooting looking at the Black Community's perspective in Oakland and Richmond for 2-3 minutes.

So, are you saying that KGO did not win this round in Local Breaking News? That KCBS won this round?
(Sorry I cannot speak for KKSF, as no one has mentioned them on this {Murder of 5 people in SF}* )

As it stands:
Local Breaking News

KGO 1
KKSF 1*
KCBS 1

No!

But you said that KGO did not mention the 5 people murder in San Francisco. They only talked about the Florida murder. Florida is not remotely local. To me, that is one major Local Breaking News Story. So KGO did not win this round.

OK KCBS-AM won on the coverage of the shooting at a college near the Oakland Colosseum. I listened to KGO and they dropped the ball on that one. KGO waited for the ABC Radio Network to look for details on the shooting near the stadium.

KGO actually had two reporters at the scene...Brett Burkhart and Scott Lettieri doing live reports. The network was getting material from KGO.

I admit when I listened to KCBS and KGO at 12pm. KCBS stayed on the story for 1 hour while KGO was going back to the story every 15 minutes.

Folks - from the tone of recent postings, I hope you see the folly in thinking of each station as "winning" in how they report a particular news item. Rely on them for information, not to see who spends more minutes on a particular items during a particular hour. Can't these stations just report the news, or run commentaries, without it being reduced to a competition against each other? It's like blaming a weather reporter for the rain - he doesn't make the weather, he just reports it, or tries to predict it. And most reporters I've known, who were any good at their craft, didn't try to "kill" their competitors - outscoop them, yeah, but they generally got along as colleagues.
