KGO's Red Eye radio appealing to all the big rig drivers in SiLICON Valley

Great move by the owners of KGO, to run a show that advertises oil for your BIG RIG in the Bay Area. I bet all those drivers in the SF financial district and Silicon Valley are just loading up on the products that they advertise. (I don't think there are any truck stops in the Bay Area, maybe Richmond any more?)

Why don't they run dead air? It would be more interesting.

Advertising money,is money.

When Doug McIntyre owned Red Eye Radio, it was a cool must-listen program. Now that he's sold it to Cumulus and the Midnight Truckers Radio Network folks took it over it's a rightwing go-to-church mess. BUT it has more advertisers than McIntyre's Red Eye ever had. That's the problem of quality versus commercial. It's the same in musical bands: the best bands have no audience and the ones with audiences suck. This is why mass media can never be art.

Mass media can sometimes be art ie: The Doors, Led Zeppelin, The Beatles, Stones, Tony Bennett, Sinatra etc.

Sometimes, and when they intersect you get superstars, as you've noted above. But generally, I stand by what I said: art and mass appeal usually don't intersect.

What a deceiving headline posted. It couldn't be any furthur from the truth.
Nothing but a dead air show for sure.
Just can't listen. HUGE MISTAKE TAKING MC INTYRE OFF OF HIS OWN CREATION
"DOUG MC INYTRE'S RED EYE RADIO"
BRING IT BACK.

Sounds like right wing boiler plate talk, nothing new or interesting.

But, unfortunately, the Midnight Trucker's Network, aka Red Eye Radio has more advertisers than Red Eye under Doug McIntyre. Doug's program was running lots of PSAs in their national ad slots.

Keep on truckin'.

Let's not forget that nitetime truckin shows have always been most successful on 50kw blow torches that cover a big area with lots of big rigs on the road. KGO covers most of the west coast at night so it doesn't matter if theres not a lot of listening
in the immediate bay area.

Most of the OTR truckers have satellite radio and maybe TV.

Good to know they have a TV to distract them when they're bearing down on my tail at 85mph on one of those long downhill runs on I-5.

MC:

If what you say is true than all the advertisers are wasting their money on AM radio.
