KHHM/KNTY Sacramento Staffers Say Goodbye Ahead Of Format Changes

Maybe they're going to skew similarly to Hot 105.7 is San Jose, also an Entravision property.

Could some educate me... is Tricolor a locally produced format or are they just taking a feed and inserting local commercials?

Hot 105.7 is owned by Univision, not Entravision.

Tricolor is not local as it originates from the Company headquarters in Santa Monica.

Ahhhh, that's right about Hot 105.7, oops, thanks for the clarification.

That's what I thought about Tricolor. Do they produce a bilingual CHR out of Santa Monica as well? I imagine dumping all the on air talent for KHHM and KNTY probably saved a ton of coin. From my limited experience with Entravision (I'm sure it shows), I wonder if they just want to operate the cluster with minimal air talent. Aside from KNTY and KHHM, do they produce any other content locally?

Any speculation or information on the future of 99.9? Will it remain a simulcast, since it covers the North State REALLY well, and competes with 97.7 KHHZ.

As far as I know nobody produces a bilingual CHR anywhere. Such a concept has been tried multiple times over the last 40 years, and it never worked. Of course, I'm assuming that you mean a station where the announcers speak in a mix of the two languages.

If you mean a station that plays a mix of English and Spanish language hits with announcing in Spanish, nobody does such a format for outside distribution. But stations like that number in the hundreds all around Latin America.

Remember that Spanish language CHR's are 1) really hot AC stations in mechanics and rotations and 2) Hispanics who want CHR music in English with English announcing already have a good local CHR or Rhythmic CHR (or both) in their market.

Not technically. Think it’s still running 100% of the music and spots from Hot. Only Spanish I heard yesterday was a bilingual rhythmic tune and a very brief bilingual liner (mentioned earlier). All commercials are in English. So, nothing too different right now.

Lots of CHRs ranging from KIIS in LA on down have played occasional big hit reggaeton songs like "Despacito" and have done liners in Spanish for occasional use. It's just part of being in markets that are, like LA, well over 50% Hispanic in 18-34.

Spring ratings just released and in this last month, KNCI jumped from #7 to #4, while KNTY stayed flat in 16th place.

Gotta hand it to KNTY for going up against KNCI. Albeit, they did succeed but they certainly went all the way and stayed the course, unlike The Bull.

But the Bull continues to live @ 93.7 hd-2 and 107.1. Does anyone remember " Bullfights from Mexico" on channel 36 (The Perfect 36) from San Jose in the early 70's ?

Entercom sent steak dinners to everyone at Entravision today, as KNCI jumps to #2, following Entravision's flip of KNTY.
