Kia of East Hartford proves radio advertising works

Yeah I've been hearing that ad quite a bit lately. Too bad I'm not politically aligned with Kia of East Hartford. But I have to admit I always find myself chuckling when I hear the ad.

Kia of East Hartford has prove that radio advertising works. An article in The Hartford Courant quotes the owner of Kia of East Hartford saying that traffic and sales at his dealership are up after running ads on stations that parodies President Trump. I know I heard the ads on a bunch of stations.

I have to say, the Addams Family one (2017) and the New Year's one (changing the lyrics to Auld Lang Syne) were hilarious. They always update it with a new Trump spoof ad every month. They were able to come up with new ones for the three holidays in Oct, Nov and Dec in 2018 and '19, but the New Year's one remained the same all three years.

I'm sure they're willing to take the chance that a few people who don't like them might choose to avoid the dealership as long as it gets their name out there to the masses and people remember their name because of it. If they're still doing them three years later, it must be effective enough!

A year or two ago, there was a response ad to the Kia ads by I believe it was Prestige Auto. They jokingly said "Okay, so what are we going to do for the next Prestige Auto ad, some rhyme or gimmick?" "No, someone else has already got THAT covered....." Couldn't help but laugh.

Glastonbury definitely seems to be their most targeted audience, as Kia of EH also has a sponsorship on the jerseys of Oakwood Soccer Club which is based in Glastonbury/Portland.

It will be interesting to see how their advertising may change depending on the outcome of this fall's upcoming presidential election. Or whether they can come up with a different Halloween themed ad this year.

Just wish they'd get rid of that damn campaign! The "Trump" guy sounds nothing like him.

It's the kind of ad where there's technically nothing wrong with it, but doing a parody of a figure as divisive as the President of the United States to that large of a potential listening audience is still kind of risky no matter how you slice it. Don't have an actual problem with them though and some of the holiday themed ones, as I said above, were pretty clever and funny.

"Our valued customers: The last four years have been Glorious.....but since America now has a new President, we here at Kia of East Hartford will now have to choose a new method of advertising to you...." LOL

Not really. They'll just find a Biden impersonator and move on.

Not so sure about that. Back in the fall of 2016 when Obama was still president, Kia of EH had radio commercials then but there was no Obama impersonator. It would be harder to do a spoof of Biden since his demeanor is obviously not the same as Trump's.
