& The Top-20 A/C hit from Ed Ames---"Son Of A Travelin' Man" that song mentions these great cities:

Seattle....Savannah....Orlando...Chicago...St. Louis..
Sheboygan...Tacoma...Pamona....Boston....Charleston
....Milwaukee...Muskegon.....Miami....New Orleans
...Columbus....Biloxi....Philly......Toledo.....

What's crazy is I have worked radio stations in my hometown of Seattle-Tacoma, then in Savannah, Charleston, and Columbus. And i've been to almost all those cities, except Pamona and Sheboygan and Muskegon.....and I was the son of a radio travelin' man...YIKES!!!!

Thanks again for the start of the post...just discovered it tonight......NICE!!!

Here's the lyrics to "Son Of A Travelin' Man" and a cool link to hear the song all the way through!

Ba da da.....ba da da

Ba da da.....ba da da da

Well, I`m the son of a traveling man

And though I`m partially shackin'

Railroad whistles and freighter horns

Turn me on, and I'm packing

Seattle, Savannah

Orlando or anywhere

Chicago, St. Louis

Sheboygan, I`m going there

Though I know that I love you

And the feeling's so good

If you love me too

I'm warning you

Don't count em forever

We can have a ball together

But if fun time??? come admitten' comes a feeling

I`ll be splitting

Tacoma, Pomona

Don`t know where

I`m heading for

There`s one thing I`m sure of

Just as soon as I get there, baby

I`ll be feeling like

Traveling on once more

Baby, now that you understand

Well, there`s no reason for sorrow

You know, I`m the son of a travelin' man

Here today, gone tomorrow

From Boston to Charleston

Wherever the four winds blow

I`m restless, I`m ready

There`s a rainbow for me to follow

Anywhere that it leads me

I must go!

Milwaukee, Muskegon

Miami, the heart is there

Atlanta, New Orleans

Columbus or anywhere

Biloxi or Philly

Toledo I'm going there

(Fade)

Don't know who started (on this thread) with the Kingston Trio, but I guess I'll try to finish it. (OK, I had to do a little research for a few more obscure place names in their tunes. I found these:

South Coast, New York Girls, The Seine, Across The Wide Missouri, ‘Round About The Mountain, Everglades, Colorado Trail, The River Is Wide, Coast Of California, Pastures Of Plenty, Coming From The Mountains, Glorious Kingdom, Laredo, Brown Mountain Light, One More Town, Tell It On The Mountain, Away Rio, Portland Town, The New Frontier, Road To Freedom, River Run Down, Big Ball In Town, Run The Ridges, Desert Pete, Georgia Stockade, Walkin’ This Road To My Town, World I Used To Know, Isle In The Water, Poverty Hill, I’m Going Home (California), Gonna Go Down The River, Parchment Farm Blues, Norwegian Wood, Hawaiian Nights, The World Needs a Melody, San Miguel, Aspen Gold.

I won't even make an attempt at any more Kingston Trio titles after that.

Son of Hickory Holler's Tramp--O.C. Smith

a forgotten song, that the experts have omitted from playlists.

keeping with the theme;
I also Like "It Don't Rain in Indianpolis..........."Little Green Apples" - OC SMith

Why ommit Hickory Holler (made the top 40). Who needs an Oldies station programmed , I've got over 10,000(Oldies, Classic R&B , Classic Country and Classic Rock) songs on my computer clipped/normalized and ready to go.

Here in Tennessee, the highway patrol is running a PSA to the tune of "I've Been Everywhere," but theirs is "We'll Be Everywhere" (looking for speeders, of course), but instead of all those nationwide places, it only mentions cities and towns here in Tennessee.
