KIIS-FM Stays No. 1 in Local Radio Ratings (L.A. Times)

For March, KIIS stays #1, although down .5 12+. AMP, of course, way up. KFI #2, up a tiny bit but stronger than ever. So much for the L.A. Times conservative talk radio fading hit piece. My FM big move up. Nice rebound for Jack FM even before the end of Movin. Both KROQ and 98.7 down the same amount.

Continuing fading from KABC, Latino 96.3, KJLH. KJLH at a .4 has its lowest share ever. There's only room for 1 black targeted FM so either it or KDAY needs to go.

Not one of the major spanish language stations was up and some fell somewhat significantly, KLAX, KBUE. Even El Gato was down. Peaked already? Too many spanish language FM's even before 93.9 went spanish with the future not looking any better http://www.latimes.com/news/local/la-me-growth21-2009apr21,0,3798728.story

April and May will be interesting for KIIS. KIIS is down 2 full 18-34 points from it's pre-Amp high point, and Amp was only 1.8 points away from KIIS in that demo in the final week of March.

In week 4, Amp hit 2.2 million in weekly cume.

All Access Net News has already posted a comparison of the March ratings (vs. February) for KIIS, Power and KLSX.

Here are some highlights. Read the rest there. For the moderators, I rewrote it. Not a cut and paste. Compare it to All Access.

12+
KIIS down 11% but still #1.
Power down 3%.
KLSX up 68%.

18-34
KIIS down 16% but still #1.
Power #2, up 2%.
KLSX debuts in the top 5 and increased each week in March.

18-49
KIIS #1 off 11% but well ahead of #2 KROQ.
Power #2 and up 2%.
KLSX uo 65% and inside the Top 10.

25-54
KIIS down 17% yet still #1.
Power 15th
KLSX 17th

4th week of March
KLSX beats KIIS for the first time in TEENS.

KLSX shares most cume with KIIS, then Power then KXOL.
Power shares most cume with KIIS then KLSX.
KIIS shares the most cume with Power then a tie between KBIG and KLSX.

KLSX has a larger Hispanic comp than KIIS or Power.

I'll judge AMP on how well they can infiltrate Wango Tango... The other story is AMP is speeding up Latino 96.3's fading...

XEWW-AM - Spanish Language Talk - 0.2 - 104,100 - GLR Southern California

That has to be a big blow for Mirthala Salinas, falling from Telemundo to anchoring XEWW'S news and getting such a low rating.

XEWW does not have a usable signal in about 90% of the LA market with today's interference levels. It's just not reasonable to expect the station to get any sort of audience in LA except on the Orange County coastal areas.

XEWW is a joke. Radio Formula is much better. The best ratings that signal had was back in the day with XTRA Sports 690 with Hacksaw Hamilton and Jim Rome.
