Kim Faris of WGTZ (Z-93)inducted into Ohio Broadcasters Hall of Fame.

Well there's certainly no doubt that she's by far the best announcer on the Z staff. Congrats to her on the HOF achievement.

Certainly well deserved and I congratulate my dear friend, Kim on the honor.

One thought, though. One Dayton-area radio name that has not been on the Ohio Broacasters Hall of Fame list, and I think should be, is Lou Emm. For 50 years, he was the ratings-dominant host of the WHIO-AM morning show. His newsman and sidekick for many of those years, Winston Hoehner is also worthy of consideration.

I was just surprised to learn their names had not yet made the list.

Definitely Lou Emm. Wasn't he basically the Jerry Thomas of Dayton? On a Dayton/WHIO side note, what happened to Paul Kehl? I know he was teaching at Scarlet Oaks (WJVS) in the 80's.

The "Jerry Thomas" analogy certainly fits when you talk about Lou Emm. Lou entertained with "light" items of interest that fit the adult full service radio market of the time.

I admit, growing up in the 60's and 70's his style wasn't my "cup of tea", more so that of my parents and grandparents. Like most of my contemporaries, I was listening to the rock stations. But, 1290 was always on in the morning at my house (even though I might have been listening to something else on my bedroom transistor radio). Nonetheless, today I have great respect for Lou's accomplishments as a broadcaster. Anybody who could survive and thrive in this business for 50 years at the same station well deserves our respect and remembrance.

As to Paul, his name has come up in conversations recently, but a check around the office here hasn't turned his whereabouts up yet. If I hear, I'll post it.

Did not know about good 'ol Lou Emm not making it to the hall...Bummer!

Granted I was not a fan of his until the 80s when my children were born,by that time he had a morning co-host and was spinning a mix of A/C and oldies so I began to enjoy 1290 for the first time. I agree...he needs to be in there too...even posthumously!

While on that subject was Gene "By Golly" Barry and Steve Kirk ever inducted in the hall as well? And I must put in a plug for Dayton radio's little guy..Stanley Coning over in Eaton...from 1981 to 2003 he lived his dream of playing the music he(and my parents) loved. He may have not been all that professional but up until the end of Radio Ranch 1130 WCTM he "kept on keepin' on" in a Clear Channel world...and THAT is commendable! My prayers go with Stanley and that little AM station in that tiny garage in the field in Glenwood.
