Unfortunately it's a much bigger problem than just Seattle and it's not just limited to large cities. Police, ambulance crews and others even in more rural areas in states like Kentucky and Idaho are carrying Narcan as overdoses have become such a big concern.

I get it, but for right or wrong, Seattle has been the leader in welcoming intravenous drug users since creating ridiculous things like; 'safe-injection-zones': 'Dozens and dozens' of underground safe injection sites in Seattle
The fact they put the words safe and injection next to each other speaks volumes about what that city has become thanks to a string of corrupt and incompetent mayors and city councils.

We FINALLY agreed on something sir. I left the city & state I have loved for 57 years, 3 years ago, due to your talking points. Have you watched "Seattle is Dying" yet?

Yes saw that feature shortly after it was released.
I was raised and lived for many years in the Seattle area, but currently live south of Washington, D.C. We still have a vacation home in Hoodsport, WA along the Olympic peninsula. Every time we visit the downtown Seattle area it's just depressing. The homeless and crime have driven businesses out of what used to be a beautiful downtown corridor. I-5 traffic through downtown has always been bad, but it's unbelievably bad now.
Drive on the I-5 express lanes under the ship canal, and you see graffiti and homeless camps covering just about every square yard. Talking with a recently retired SPD friend, the police avoided those areas because the hypodermic needles are hiding in the dirt and grass around the grounds.
Considering what a toilet downtown has become, I find it hard to believe the local politicians keep getting reelected.
 
More recently, some advocates have suggested that EVERYONE carry Narcan with them (just in case they ever find themselves in a similar situation). While I can understand the need to try to help someone in distress, I (and probably most people) are hardwired to steer clear of anyone engaging in this type of activity. There's nothing any advocate could tell me that would inspire me to want to get more "involved," especially after living in another west coast city and seeing what actually happens out on the streets. With that being said, if you see someone who may be in distress, it's always a good idea to call 911.

I am truly shocked that some of these politicians continue to get elected over and over again. The definition of insanity is doing the same thing twice and expecting a different outcome.

I attribute much of that to being pure apathy. Seattle residents don't care about local politics, nor do they seem to connect what's going on in their city with the decisions of politicians. That means when they do vote a recognizable name, or incumbent, is good enough.
