King of the Voice Overs, Don LaFontaine Dies At 68

Don LaFontaine, the voice of literally thousands of commericals and movie trailer voice overs has passed away. Don has been the inspiration for many of us in the voice over business as well as in the radio industry. Don set a standard of excellence that only a hand full of talents I know of could possibly hope to reach. At this time I can only think of one or two and both of their last names are Hopkins. May God rest Don's soul. He will be sorely missed. He was 68.

This came as such a shock! What a legendary man, what a legendary voice. He will be DEEPLY missed.

He seemed to really enjoy what he did, and the interviews I saw with him made him look like a genuinely nice guy (when it would have been easy for him to be a stuck up arrogant you-know-what).

In a world...
Where Don LaFontaine can no longer do voice work...
Is there hope...
For man's survival?

:'(

P.S. - (110% dittos on the "Hopkins" comment!)
