KIOI 101.3FM 1985 with Bob Malik. and KXXX Chuck Geiger,

Re: KIOI 101.3FM 1985 with Bob Malik. and KXXX Chuck Geiger,

X-100 was a fine radio station. Lots of talent - Geiger, Mark Hansen, Peter B. Collins & Michael Knight, then later Kelly & Kline. But KXXX just couldn't get any respect - or ratings. I never understood why it didn't catch on. I wasn't following Arbitron in those pre-internet days, but I guess KMEL buried it.

Mark Hansen was at KKHR in 1985 in LA.

Well, he was at X-100 for quite awhile, According to Wikipedia, NBC sold KYUU (which became KXXX) in 1988, which lasted until 1991 when KFRC-FM began playing Oldies. Personally, I can't recall. The title of the thread implies the Geiger air check was 85, but it must have been a few years later...assuming Wikipedia is correct.

Re: KIOI 101.3FM 1985 with Bob Malik. and KXXX Chuck Geiger,

No, the title gives 1985 as the date for the K101 air check. No date is given for the X100 clip.

The X100 Chuck Geiger video is from 1991...
