Okay, tonight, (2/29), pop star Ashlee Simpson is making an appearance at the tiny little Gypsy Bar in Boston. It's supposed to be a single release party for "Outta My Head". And I was all excited, because I've wanted to meet Ashlee for a long time. But apparently, Kiss 108 held this contest for it, and overbooked all the winners. I really can't believe this. I bet there's going to be a lot of angry people.

And then stupid Kiss 108 turned it into a contest, and I think someone forgot to check the max occupancy of the place, and now the place is full with winners, so nobody else will be able to get in. I can picture this making the evening news.
And as for meeting her sister, I don't know if you remember back in 2004, Jessica Simpson had a signing at Wal-Mart in Danvers. They expected about 50-100 people, and then there turned out to be THOUSANDS. And I think parents were dropping off their children by themselves, and there were traffic jams, and they let Jessica leave early, and they had to close the entire store. I remember it was on all the local news channels, and they were interviewing all these kids who wanted to meet her and they couldn't.

I've seen many radio station co-promotions where clubs were filled with radio contest winners for special events. If other randoms off the street who didn't win tickets can't get in to a free small-capacity event, that's just free enterprise for you.

Her record company is the one who holds record release parties, books the venue and pays her to be there. They then decide how they want to fill the club they booked. If they decide to let a local radio station have the tickets to promote the event your a little off base blaming them. It's Ashlee or her agents that you should be upset with. Or perhaps you thought that you where invited to a party you never really where? Also Jessica got way more publicity out of that incident than some silly meet and greet would have ever got her had it gone as planned. Folks that never had heard of her and probably never would have did. Remember the old saying "Any publicity is good publicity". Well that is the prime example. They would love to have something like that happen again. Only thing is it probably won't and she will never even be a blip on the radar screen. The only thing she will probably ever be remembered for is her famous lip-syncing mistake on live TV.
Actually, it turns out, I completely misunderstood this whole thing. The event at the Gypsy Bar DID go as planned. It turns out this girl was talking about ANOTHER Ashlee event that Kiss 108 hosted. It was a listening party, and they originally had it so that the winners could bring 2 guests. But then they overbooked the winners, and so the guests could no longer go.
However, with the Gypsy Bar thing, from what I understand, it was wicked crowded, and only a few people got to meet her. I also heard that Ashlee was very unwilling to meet people, and was not very polite at all.
