The news-talk station quietly fired up 101.3, K267CV, this week. 250 watts from Ahtanum Ridge with a solid signal in mono. This was desperately needed in my opinion, as KIT hasn't had an FM simulcast for years and many cars (like mine) have terrible engine noise more than 15 miles from an AM transmitter...
The signal also weakly makes it up to Ellensburg but does a lot of swapping with KGDN Pasco and is not usable. I wonder how far into the Lower Valley this signal will go out? The 96.1 with KYAK makes it nearly to Prosser and takes out what used to be a solid signal from U-Rock Radio in Stanfield.
In addition, KTCR is now simulcasting on 102.5 in addition to 106.9. Waste of spectrum IMO. The 102.5, K273DK, is an AM Revitalization translator that was awarded to Stephens Media Group, and they just got the CP finished. Maybe Stephens can keep KTCR on 102.5 (from the 980) and as for the 106.9, from the KHHK-HD subchannel, flip it to a new format.
