KITS 105.3 Stunting... Return of Live 105?

Heh thanks, but I’m a raccoon 🦝 you just can’t see my ringtail in the photo :)
Raccoon? Were you hit by a car? Distemper? Rabies? Birth mutation? Radio station roadkill giveaway? I've seen quite a few raccoons and none that have looked like that. Last one was three days ago, came around corner of my building to find myself face-to-face with a raccoon the size of a Mini Cooper. I guess he decide I didn't look very edible because after about 15 seconds of a faceoff, he turned around and hightailed it out of there.

Matchbox Twenty was considered Alternative when they first came out. I recall Q101 playing "Push" and "3 AM" quite a lot. But I think Mad Season cemented them as Adult Contemporary fodder and they've been there ever since.
Heck, I remember 89X Detroit/Windsor even playing “Disease” as a current. I think they stopped playing any MB20 whatsoever after that.

I imagine Allers will program Live more like KNRK or even KNDD out of Seattle than KVIL, though I do like the sound he’s got going there.

It will be interesting to hear from RsdioDiscussions participants who are actually in the market (or those who can stream it) about how it sounds in real time. Looking at song airplay monitors is not the same as a real "aircheck" listening.

(And streams often have different ads and stopset content that are not well done)
Will do!! I’m very excited to see it return.

answer. To this day KVIL is the only Audacy Alternative that plays songs like Seether's "Fine Again", Default's "Wasting My Time" or Shinedown's "Second Chance."
Not true. WDZH plays two of those three songs.

The Shinedown song is very sappy, btw. Would not sound out of place on some Hot AC stations.

The funny thing is - KVIL plays The Verve Pipe, a band from Michigan, whereas Detroit's WDZH does not. Overall, I do prefer the KVIL playlist substantially to that of WDZH. The variety on KVIL is definitely better. Brad Steiner is doing a lousy job with WDZH's music. He needs to go back to Chattanooga.

This topic began Friday morning and in less than 48 hours has over 200 posts. Is that a record?

If interest here reflects listeners returning, it's definitely a good sign for the reborn Live105.

Only 2 songs, Long Day and Push that's it. The rest was Hot A/C.
"3 AM" peaked at #3 on Alt, "Real World" peaked at #13. Even "Bent", the lead single to Mad Season and a Hot 100 #1, made it to #16 on Alt at the height of the nu-metal takeover. "Bent" was their final charter on Alt however. IIRC "If You're Gone" did get pushed to Alt but it was soundly rejected and that was it.

Believe it or not, "Long Day" didn't get pushed to Alt. It was pushed to Active Rock/Mainstream Rock only, and peaked at #8 on the Billboard MR chart.

I definitely remember the contemporary rock station in my hometown, which pivoted between active rock, alt rock and a hybrid of the two formats playing Matchbox 20 for a year or two. The longer lived alternative station, which skewed modern AC much of the time, played them for years, at least until 2005.

Here are some of Live 105's previous logos from the first incarnation.

“The station’s playlist will not only focus on alternative radio staples but also new tracks, as well, he added: “Live 105 will represent the past, present and future of alternative music.””

New music needs context. You can't just have the computer drop "Empty Nest" or "Overrated" after "Smells Like Teen Spirit."

That's why I'm not a fan of launching this as unhosted. It's the same presentation as Dave.

Yeah, if you’re debuting this without hosts initially, just focus on the gold library and re-register familiarity with listeners that way.

I don’t know if I agree at all, the first few weeks are about grabbing listeners - the format should run as it will. Let’s not pretend that the alternative format’s issues are suddenly resolved. This project will not be easy for Audacy if they want it to succeed.

(As I’ve said, that’s coming from someone who likes any and all types of rock)

That being said, I still maintain the active rock charts would bill and rate far better than the active rock charts in the Bay Area. But I also maintain that’s for KSAN (107.7) to start dipping into. Classic Rock is well served here and we have never seen an active rock format tried, despite its success in other top markets.
