KJLA 1190AM (Now KDMR.), Kansas City, MO, Id's & partial "MOYL" Jingle (9/1989.)

Here's some old station id's & a partial "Music of Your Life" jingle from KJLA 1190AM (Now KDMR.) in Kansas City, MO, from back in September 1989, when the station carried the "Music of Your Life" format. I found this stuff on a old cassette tape at a flea market in Independence, MO a few years ago.

Thanks for sharing this! Apparently they were running the "Music Of Your Life" satellite network. This must have been a verry early version of the network, before the one with Karl Southcott and Wink Martindale. I have heard of an atempt by Unistar to syndicate the Music of Your Life via satellite, and perhaps this is what the station was using.

I know MOYL was distributed via Satellite by Jones Radio at one point. We aired the format on an AM station I worked at some 16 or 17 years ago.

Yes, unless I have my history wrong, Jones syndicated Music of Your life from 1995 until 2008, when they started their own short-lived format called "Jones Standards" (known on-air as "the Greatest Music Ever Made"). But before that, I believe Unistar tried to syndicate Music of Your life, but it didn't last long. Perhaps someone who knows more about this can provide more details.

Here is an article I found in a December 1989 inside radio magazine which confirms that Unistar was in fact syndicating Music of Your Life:

Music Of Your Life Taps Tucker As PD James Heads SBK
Penny Tucker has been appointed PD of Unistar's "Music Of
Your Life" format. She will also
serve as one of the format's fulltime DJs.
"Penny brings some very significant skills to the position and to the
format," noted Unistar Sr. VP
Gary Taylor. "These qualifications
give her the advantage of knowing our organization from the sale
through the startup and the affiliation."
Tucker had been an announcer on the company's "Format 41" and
"Country" formats, and was Western Regional Manager in its affiliate sales department. She was previously PD at MOYL affiliate
KIXI /Seattle.
