KKDJ 99.7 in Fresno is on the air

I miss K100 KIOO 99.7 Classic Rock from Porterville/ Visalia, KKDJ (KYAF)repeats horribly same 50-100 or so songs, some times in the same order, this is NO KKDJ , in fact, KIOO is more like the Old 106 KKDJ than this station. of course I can listen to KIOO on-Line LMFAO

Yes, I know. It's just getting bad EVERYWHERE!

Ken are you referring to the tower at Jenesn & Pilegard Equipment? Thats been there for decades. It's going to have to have quite a large directional array high up to be getting KYAF.

Yes, that's the tower they are on and there no directional receiving FM ant. pointing toward Firebaugh.

It looks like at least 200% modulation. While the mod monitor I was looking has it's antenna pointed at Meadow, it's not that far off beam. Ouch!

It would be highly doubtful that they could receive KYAF over the air even with a directional ANT, not only because of distance and the HAAT/ERP that they have, but also because of KBOS's HD side band that covers Fresno on 94.7 basically covering any signal that would even have the potential of reaching that location.

While I agree that it will be difficult, it shouldn't be impossible with a DSP receiver. We had a similar problem with KVMR's Woodland translator when it was located close to KQEI in Sacramento. A standard FM radio received mostly digital noise while a BW Broadcast RX1 was able to clearly receive a stereo signal for the translator input. I'm still baffled by exactly how these things work, but they do.

I disagree I met the guy who programs the music for the new Kkdj radio guy from the kyno days John Lee Walker I like there music an listening just today they have phone calls running from actual listeners praising the music. Congratulations to me walker for a great music programming job keep it up!!

JLW has worked a number of stations - including KYNO’s short lived talk format and spent time at K104 and KBOS if my memory is correct. Just get rid of the call letters - it’s not the KKDJ legacy anymore than Visalia’s KARM is that of the original KARM...

John Lee Walker was on 96 FM KYNO-FM (95.7) around the Mid 80s, then he was at KCLQ 107.5 Classic Rock in 1987 or 1988 as a morning show.

There seems to some " noise" on the studio to transmitter tonight on 99.7 not the normal noise from other stations(co or adjacent) this is with in like a distortion sound

There was some noise on KJOI's streaming in the last few days as well. Who is their chief engineer?

I don't know who their Chief Engineer is but I have listened to 99.7 and 94.7 the sound quality is fantastic, I don't Know what they use for
limiting and compression but they sound cleaner and better than 95.7. Kjoi at 104.3 Sounds just as good at the transmitter site and I have their app on my cell They are not as good sounding on tv at channel 16.1 or on their translator at 100.5 both of those sound muddy

KJOI's app has some background noise that seems to have developed about the time the translator for KYAF fired up. App's are the future and streaming quality is everything.

I don't Know I should have ask Mr Walker when I met him. I heard from Mr Walker that Chris White was the owner and Walker told me that Chris and someone else whos name I forgot, was training him to use the automation system

Ok I just listened to KJOI on my phone and tablet it sounds great no hum better than FM quality I think ...nice if you look at the app Chris White is the app builder&registrant same as kkdj, california ag news, kya, kfun, kool, vino tasting radio & Sammy hagar radio. I found that info on the apple developer site. I called kkdj office at 559-851-5535 I left a message for Chris White to call me back he did about 20 mi later and he explained the process of getting the audio to the app, this stuff is very interesting. ExKynoJox if you want to talk with him I am sure he will be glad explain it to you. He was a very nice guy over the phone.
