KKGO uses celebrity singers during the mid days. Should other stations follow?

Just wanted to know the pros and cons of having celebrities do the mid day shift on KKGO during the work day and should other stations follow it hasn't made a dent in the Shares with KKGO. So just wondered if this was a good idea or not?

Country radio has a very unique relationship with record labels that doesn't exist in most other formats.

This appearance is set up by label promotion departments. The main advantage for Saul is it saves money.

And the labels are only going to do this when the station and market are very important. Despite its low share, Saul's LA station is generally the highest cuming country station in the US... or at least in the top 3 or 4.

No label is going to send an artist, in person or via the web, to do a whole month of mornings in Kalamazoo.

I think the OP was asking about other stations in other formats in LA. The only formats where it makes sense for the labels are the ones that play currents, such as KIIS.

KKGO, KIIS, KRRL, KXOL, KBUE, KSCA, KPWR and KLLI would be the predominantly current based stations in LA. Maybe the two Alternative Rock stations would fit in the category somewhat, as might KLVE.

All of those have higher 25-54 AQH persons than KKGO.

Justin Moore's been doing sports talk on a Little Rock station, KABZ, since December.
