KMCQ files Minor Change for Cougar & KAFE, Bellingham files for 104.1 Mhz

Maybe we need a refresher course from the knowledgeable folks on here...
Cougar issue aside....

Can Nanaimo 104.1 Bellingham 104.3 and "Covington" 104.5 co-exist with regard to adjacency and distance? Seems more practical 104.3 should be assigned North .... 104.1 to Bellingham and 104.5 to South; but that discounts anything else that could be adjacent to 104.1

That doesn't take into account putting 104.1 in Vancouver instead of Nanaimo...which skews that whole variable further South.

Seems like the only clear winner after all this is KMIH who got new toys and a new frequency out of the deal and doesn't end up stepping on anyone now, and is back among the non-comm's where they probably should have been in the first place.

Wow...you'd think FCC is almost run by a bunch of people who used to run ...... radio stations!!

It appears that the idea of swapping the Canadian apps from 104.1 to 104.3 (from the vacating KAFE), won't work. We thought this was the simple solution, however, class C station CKVX, Vancouver on 104.9 would be too close to a new 104.3, just 600 khz away, and that would be a 3rd adjacency. So if these apps have no place to go but 104.1, then there's going to be a cross-border fight for the channel. 8)

OK, so it looks like the plan for KMCQ to go to Cougar might be pretty much shot down permanently if the CRTC has it's way. Are there any other better sites KMCQ can go to, instead of staying in Enumclaw, for both easy accessibility and signal reach?

I know the east hill of Kent was mentioned as a possibility a long time ago when all this got started. Or, if there would be no co-channel problems with KDUX 104.7 in Aberdeen, could they possibly put the operation up on Indian Hill in NE Tacoma, at the old 97.3 facility? (if there's enough room at the site to share with KXOT 91.7, I mean)

Canada does allowed 3rd ajacent channel. Look at 93.1 RED FM and 93.7 JR-FM. A lot of new radio station in Canada are 3rd adjacent frequency between the two station. Even FCC doesn't allowed 3rd adjacent frequency. CTRC does allow 3rd adjacent frequency.

1. Canada does allowed 3rd adjacent channel, look at RED 93.1 and JR93.7.

Also, can CTRC or Industry Canada worked an agreement with KAFE to used 104.3 for Vancouver and 104.1 for Bellingham?
