Last Sunday, I noticed that the ASU / UA basketball game was being heard on both KMVP (860 AM) and KFNX (1100 AM). KMVP had ASU'snetwork, while KFNX offered UA's network. KFNX's coverage appeared to be a straight simulcast of KCUB (1290 AM) in Tucson, including commercials for Tucson's local businesses.
How common is it for two competing teams, from different markets, to have both of their respective networks carried by two different stations in the same market?
I'm not talking about situations when it's a huge market and there are multiple teams worthy of their own sports networks. For example, in L.A., I believe that KLAC (570 AM) carries UCLA while KSPN (710 AM) has USC. But, both of those stations serve the same market. And I'm not referring to, for example, being in Milwaukee during a Brewers/Cubs game, and being able to receive the Brewers' coverage on WTMJ (620 AM) and the Cubs' coverage on WGN-AM (720) due to the strength of WGN's signal.
