KNHK 104.5 'Hank-FM' sold to Growing Christian Foundation

KNHK 104.5 Newport/Spokane has been sold to the Growing Christian Foundation, the same owners behind Positive Life Radio heard across most of Eastern Washington.

This purchase will give the Spokane/Coeur d'Alene its 15th religious station, and if the foundation flips KNHK to a PLR affiliate, it will give PLR coverage across the rest of Eastern Washington (excluding the northern mountains where KPLW can't be picked up). In addition, this creates another competitor for KEEH 'Shine 104.9'.

The facillity went for a fairly low price but the monthly expense profile will be high. Besides the main tower rent, KNHK comes with four on-channel boosters.

The local focused broadcaster in me appreciated the KMJY 104.5 days, when it programmed to Newport and points near instead of Spokane. Even if the revenue wasn't there to sustain it.

Chasing Spokane revenue with a rimshot and adding those extra facilities without the sales power of a cluster, seemed risky to me.

KPND 95.3/Sandpoint is trying to become a Spokane market player. Time will tell if they can make inroads. They're even moving their transmitter again to the I-90 corridor, or were last time I checked. AAA WTTS/Bloomington, IN makes it work as an independant in the Indianapolis market, time will tell if KPND can.

Call letters on this one are now KZIU if you are interested in checking the coverage of the main and booster transmitters.

Yup. Swapped with semi-local 101.9 Weston, OR (now KNHK).

I'm not sure what the demo/daypart breakdown is, but they're making some progress 12+

Update: 104.5 (now KZIU) has flipped to Contemporary Christian "Joy 104.5" after stunting Christmas for three months.
