KOMO Newsradio's Un-Retired PD is Paul Duckworth

He is coming back from retirement to program the fabulous station that is KOMO:

Duckworth tells Radio-Info.com that "Some people are cut out for retirement, and then there's me." He's decided that "after a little over a year soaking up the sunshine in Florida and re-charging the battery", he'll report to work April 16 as the new program director at KOMO-AM/FM (1000/97.7). He will work with Fisher Communications general manager Jim Clayton and says "it's a thrill to be going back home" to Seattle, where he once programmed KOMO, as well as sister KVI (570). Duckworth's other programming credits include KLIF, Dallas, WMAL, Washington, KPAM, Portland and WDBO, Orlando.

During the news format. First he programmed KOMO and then when another PD left (or was fired), they just gave him the PD job there, too.

People have short memories... he was NOT the news director when they got the Mariners and went all news in 2002. He was running only KVI at that time and for how long... MY memory fails. KOMO ratings under his watch, well... questionable. Let's hope he has learned something in the ten years since. There are a couple of key positions that are OBVIOUSLY open and lacking at this point. This year so far, they seem to have lost some of their luster and commitment.
