KAAM sidebands are audible for at least a couple of hundred miles, more than enough to cause trouble for KSEO in its area of service further North. KAAM doesn't care. They don't have to. They arrogantly spew sidebands without thinking of the stations they are affecting on either side.

The point is that KSEO has never had any measurable listeners in the area, even in the decade that it was on the air before HD Radio was even announced. That's what Chip is saying. There is no one who wants to listen or even knows this station exists. Why you, in Plano, would want to try to listen to a 250 watt AM daytimer that is 70 miles away in Durant, Oklahoma is beyond the understanding of a reasonable person. But then again this is a geeky radio board where reason doesn't count for much.

There are a lot of misinformed people on these boards, but you top them all. Pretty much everything you write here is wrong.

How do they do so?
Audience sampling, They send out diarys where people are supposed to record their listening for a week. Arbitron then takes those diarys and projects what they believe ratings would be for the whole population.

Yeah, until this coming fall, or so. Then it's bye-bye diary and hello PPM.

Good music, strong reception. That is why anybody listens to a radio station.

Gee, the outpouring of love and respect on here is overwhelming. Suggestion - some of you folks need to listen to something like KSEO and find Christ as your personal savior. Then - you won't feel a need to insult and belittle people. I promise - you will be much happier people when you treat people better!

I respect people who deserve respect. I don't respect people who don't deserve respect. perhaps if you're feeling disrespected, you should see what you're doing (like throwing out totally unsubstaniated claims (like rimshot owners are making comfortable livings) (unless of course youve got a link to their 1040) that none of us believe) that causes you to be disrespected.

Okay. But, KSEO does not have a strong signal in Collin county. 250 watts barely covers Sherman-Denison (and even then only because of the low dial position). Again, only a third of listening is in the car, where KSEO's signal even has a chance. In Collin county, KSEO does not even have a prayer (maybe not an appropriate place for a joke) in homes, offices, or portable radios at the gym or in some yard on a riding lawnmower.

KLTY listeners are not dumping a great FM station to listen to a bad, tiny out-of-market AM station 70 miles away. This argument is completely unreasonable.

Also, I wouldn't rush to judgement on someone's religious beliefs based on a couple of strongly-worded message board posts. Sometimes strong words are needed to get one's attention. I care more about you being right than your feelings staying unruffled.
