KQYT "Quiet FM 95" TV commercial from the late 70's

Nurse Jeff and I recall hearing that music in an elevator at Western Savings HQ!

Format-wise, what was the difference between KQYT (95.5) and KMEO (96.9)?

LOL. The difference? Are you KIDDING ME? Better to ask the difference between KBBC and KDKB in 1980, or KOOL-AM and KJ. You couldn't tell the difference? How they approached the 101 Strings in such different ways? The jocks, the promotions, the imaging, the liners?

Ah, now that I think about it. The only difference was the dial positions. :)

You could throw KBUZ and KDOT in there with them. The only difference between KBUZ/KDOT/KMEO and KQYT (and its predecessor KRFM) was that 95.5 didn't simulcast on AM.

I used to put my babies to sleep to KQYT. I think I liked the KQYT voice guy better than the KMEO announcer. KQYT used to play a very cool guitar song called Eye Level buy a Harald Winkler. I tried to get it but it was only for sale in Europe-no internet back then.

I will always remember, with great affection, when my father drove me and my friends to High School, back in 78-82, he was in his mid 50's and we had to endure the Music of Your Life, which consisted of Lawrence Welk type caucasians who were as hip and happening as Ethyl Merman doing disco, singing absolutely horrid versions of Beach Boys songs along with other auditory torture.

Now that he is gone, I miss those days, I really do, I'd give a lot to go back for just one day. :-[

KMND was different! This featured my favorite show of ALL time, Robin Morrow's "River of Dreams"...featuring Robin's sort-of surrealistic love poetry and cheesy Frank Chacksfield cover music.

This automated east-valley slushfest would later be cleansed for all time, as the Shafer 800 automation was threaded up with the sounds of the sea, followed by a days long montage of Captain Beefheart and John Cage's funny stories. KDKB came from a very strange place indeed.

hmmm...the Nurse and I wonder how many babies were conceived while their parents were listening to Quiet 95?

People have moved on to Estaban infomercials. Get with the times, Dr.!! ;)

What's amazing to me is that back in those days, KQYT and KMEO used to duke it out pretty good ratings-wise. They often traded #1 spots and rarely fell out of the top 5. That's a lot of dentist's offices!

Or a lot of babies being put to sleep (or conceived?)! :)

What song is THIS? They used this song on the TV spots for KBRD (K-Bird FM 104) Seattle (and their spot - the same one they made in the late '70s ran clear until the early '90s when they flipped to KMTT "The Mountain")

It seems so synonymous with B/EZ radio........
