Hope for the best after Days Of Our Lives’

EXCLUSIVE: It’s an end of an era for Days of Our Lives. Kristian Alfonso, one of the daytime drama’s most recognizable and longest-tenured stars, is leaving the NBC series, which she first joined in 1983.

“I feel blessed and honored to have been invited into people’s homes for over three decades. However, it is now time for me to write my next chapter,” Alfonso said in a statement to Deadline.

As we reported on Friday, Days Of Our Lives plans to return to production on September 1.

“I will not be returning to Days when it resumes production in September,” Alfonso said. “I’ve already filmed my last episode several months ago.”

She played Hope Brady on the soap. I thought I remembered someone else in the role for a period in the early 90s, but Wikipedia does not indicate that anyone other than Alfonso had been cast as Hope.

She did leave the show for a while, it was recast once.

She left Days in the late 80s and was on Falcon Crest until she came back briefly in 1990 while co-star Peter Reckell(Bo) was on Knots Landing and he back in 90 as role.

Bo was recast but Hope never was as her character was “dead”(presumed fallen in a vat of acid) from 1990-1994 but finally came back in ‘94 shortly had Alfonso’s Melrose Place role ended up being short term.
