KRON's primary focus has been the Bay Area's News Station. They continuously brand themselves with this on almost every break morning, noon and night 24/7. I've also noticed that KRON is using more and more of the CNN newsfeed and having CNN be more of a part to their news stories. This may be the result of a new focus with emphasis on news as one of their goals in 2009.
I still think that Hearst would be a good fit for this station. Hearst owns channel 8 KSBW in Salinas/Monterey and also KCRA 3 in Sacramento with the MY Network TV affiliate KQCA Channel 58. KRON would be a great station for Hearst if Young decides at some point to sell it.
I had to look at the date on your post to make sure it hadn't come back from over a year ago. It seems like all these KRON threads get circular and start over again...I remember that Hearst was discussed as a possible buyer on this board months ago.
Have you forgotten that Young put KRON on the market January 9, 200
8 - a few days less than a year ago?
Unless I missed something, KRON is still up for sale...unless Young pulled it
off the market because there were no takers.
Why would Hearst - or any other broadcast entity lacking suicidal impulses - want to buy KRON in this economy?
