KROQ's Jed The Fish Dies At 69; Audio Of Jed Joining Howard Stern In August 1989

Wow. My first reaction was that he is the first of the KROQ of the 80s mainstays to pass, but then realized Dusty Street passed a few years ago. I hope we don't start losing the old KROQ jocks one after the other like we did with the KLOS jocks a few years back.

He was on KROQ for at least 34 years. Amazing longevity for any DJ, but especially in this town.

Jed The Fish was my all time favorite KROQ DJ ever...It was in 1980 on a family trip to LA when my ears first heard KROQ and the offbeat, laid back, quirkiness of Jed. I immediately fell in love with this station, just like many others. I even had the chance to meet him at the old upstairs Pasadena studio. In person, he was exactly like he was on the radio. Really sad to hear of his passing.

Does anybody know how he came up with his 'Jed The Fish' radio name?

Raymondo passed away a few years ago, too.

Jed the Fish was on San Francisco’s The Quake in 1984-85, and was the last DJ on the air before the format ended 40 years ago and cut me off from “good music” for years.
