KRS-1 says he will sue radio stations that play his music.

Oh...kay.

>>“If the radio ever played my music, I would sue them,” KRS-One told whomag.net “And they know it, which is why they don’t play my music. If you play KRS, I’ll sue you. Straight up. I don’t even want my music on mainstream radio. They don’t deserve it. They destroy careers.”

Mr. 1 was featured in REM's Radio Song. Sue!

>>"Hey! I can't find nothin' on the radio. Yo, turn to that station."

Oh surely you remember him on "Radio Song"...I just think it's crazy, radio helps careers not destroys them.

That depends on which side of the line you are on. It may boost a musician's career, but it also has killed the careers of many in the business.

Yep, he appeared on REM's "Radio Song". As it is an REM song, I don't think this lawsuit thing applies.

For those not familiar with him, KRS-1 had some hits back in the late 80s under the name Boogie Down Productions. No gangsta or booty stuff, he was political. Think of him as a poor man's Public Enemy. But like most hip-hop from that era, he pretty much faded into obscurity, as performers in that genre have a shorter shelf life than any other genre. My first thought is that this is a weak attempt to save face, as he knows that nobody plays his music anymore anyways.

I do recall giving him a few spins on my college show back in the day, though never got into his music. Though I highly doubt he'll come out and sue me.

REALLY? Wow. Talk about burning your bridges!

Ask any independent musician or band: Any radio airplay is GOOD radio airplay. Whatever gets them out to the clubs to see your show.
