Unless I am not seeing something, I think KVST should welcome a move by KSHN. I am thinking a move SOUTH to Winnie or Mont Belvieu or
in that general area which will give KVST even more mileage separation from KSHN.
While KVST certainly wouldn't complain about it, such a move wouldn't benefit KSHN even if it were possible. Despite all the talk about upgrades, the reality is that KSHN is pretty much locked into its present site (and frequency, too).
Moving any further east would run into spacing issues with the previously mentioned Lake Charles station (KNGT 99.5), whose new location currently clears the required distance to KSHN by just under four miles. A change to 99.7, as willdav713 suggested, would be impossible without a physical relocation or frequency change for KVST, KNGT, KNFX Bryan (also on 99.5) and several others.
Sorry, everyone. An upgrade at the present site, a relocation of the antenna or a frequency shift will probably never happen.
KVST did start at 103.5, calling themselves Star 103.5 and play a mix of Country and Adult Contemporary at launch. Shortly thereafter however they morphed into Kstar Country and moved to 103.7 adding 99.7 KUST later and now only KVST 99.7 FM.
