KSJO no longer "The Bay Area's ONLY 24/7 Chinese FM!"?

I speak Chinese and I've listen to KSJO from time to time, but I've noticed that they recently started to mix in Spanish programmings into their "24/7 Chinese FM!" format. Is this a sign of change might be on the way?

And does it have anything to do with the recent sale of KCNL 104.9 to USC/KDFC where they'll "combine" the two stations together?

The owner operates stations that sell blocks of time to people who produce programming and sell commercials in that programming. In many cases of ethnic brokered stations, there may be more than one language, type of music, religion or whatever on a single brokered station.
 
What hours did you hear Spanish programming. The programming appears to getting increased listenership with the Chinese format. Some of it is locally produced at the two drivetimes.

I remember when KSJO meant good rock and roll. That station had such a following.

They have Spanish weeknights 8pm-10pm and that's when I heard it. It is also listed on their website.

The owners do not depend on ratings... they merely sell blocks of time to whoever will pay (within their responsibility as the licensee).

Yes, KCNL has to do with this, the Spanish format will be merging into KSJO and the China language will stay on the station but less programing since they will be adding more international languages, so far Principle Broadcasting is developing their schedule for the new "Universal 92.3".
