KSL/Salt Lake City Says No To "Playboy Club"

DToTheJ said:
... sounds like a better selling point than that of their "Stressed Eric" animated British import - remember the ads proclaiming Eric was "badder than Bart" and the show being "spicier than South Park"? I bet KSL rejected this, too, based on the ads alone...

The BBC produced two seasons of this series, totalling 13 episodes, and was seen in its entirety in Canada, unaltered, on YTV. However, NBC thought it would be better to make Eric an American living in London, with Hank Azaria replacing Mark Heap as Eric Feeble -- the NBC version was cancelled abruptly after three episodes, and was never seen in the US since, not even on DVD (which is available in the UK).

You know, when CBS launched the now-canceled William Shatner vehicle "$*** My Dad Says," the only people you heard from were the PTC. Incidentally, you didn't hear much of a peep from CBS affiliates about carrying this show, and likewise, we're not (well, not yet, at least) hearing any complaints about this new "Playboy Club" from PTC.

Of course, in this ever-competitive universe, should NBC get killer ratings with "Playboy Club," you just know that a competing network is going to launch a clone series with a title like "Penthouse Place" or something silly like that...

And I thought only Ala-Bama still did stuff like that.

Yeah, rural Alabama. When NBC owned Birmingham affiliate WVTM, they never preempted network shows on BS grounds like KSL-TV. Media General seems to be abiding by the same rules when it comes to network programming on the station.

And while that is true, it doesn't mean that they're not pandering to the right wing -- in 2009, Media General station WFLA in Tampa caught alot of flak when they broadcast a special episode of "Speechless: Silencing the Christians", detailing the ex-gay movement and the "gay agenda". The special was produced by the American Family Association, who bought a 7PM Saturday time slot on WFLA to show the special.

Well KSL is owned by the Mormon Church too...
What a bunch of hypocrites.

You're not just singing "Harper Valley, PTA"...

Hey... I wonder if the PTC would try to strongarm network affiliates to not carry an updated version of THAT old series! ::)
