According to the Observer, it's official.
The story I hear is that there was a 30-day exclusive negotiating period that started at seasons end. And CBS may have a deal done, but they can't announce anything until KTCK's 30 days are up without getting into legal hot water. This clears the way for Jerry/CBS to announce their deal (next week at the super bowl? )scrtr84 said:I'm not sure I buy this "opts out" thing. Shouldn't that be more like "...loses rights after Cowboys moved to CBS' The Fan"?

I'm curious if the same timing with next season will coincide with the expiration of Jagger and his lame show's contract's. Then a new "Sports" morning show comes in and takes that place?
Maybe Dunham and Miller leave KTCK for KRLD FM.
Bigger loss for the Cowboys?? Yeah, 2 crappy signals, neither of which is synched to cable television sounds like a BIG loss for the Cowboys..evening times said:As for the Cowboys, who cares? It isn't going to hurt the Ticket one bit. I think it is a bigger loss for the Cowboys than it is the Ticket.

Dunham and Miller have 3 more years on their contracts.

And this could be that strangest of animals, a win-win for everybody. The Ticket supposedly saw no ratings bump from having the games, and since Jerry has all the spot inventory, didn't really have a chance to make money on the games. Now they lose the cowboys, but pick up a franchise that while isn't as popular, gives them a lot more games and a lot more station inventory to sell.
CBS can afford to give up a ton of inventory on 105.3, it's a brand new station with no ratings track record in the current format. They can use the cowboys to market their station to sports fans, and not have to lay out cash themselves for billboards, TV, etc.
Perhaps Gordo is too in love with watching himself on TV these days. Surely a move from The Ticket to a CBS-owned station wouldn't bode well with Channel 8 (well, Channel 52.) Maybe Channel 11 would move the show there? Maybe Channel 52 could fill that gap in scheduling with classic "Hot Tkts" reruns? :Slambang said:plus the ability to bring over Gordon Keith
