They just got a grant for expermimental operation to do ground conductivity measurements, so I would think an application isn't too far off.

jd said:You're right about that. Since 950 is out of the way it opened the door a little, but there are still a lot of other problems with squeezing in a new station.
Mediafrog+ said:Another issue might be KIXZ 940 in Amarillo. I used to drive Highway 287 a lot, and recall that KIXZ put a daytime signal into Wichita Falls. So a new DFW 940 probably would have to hold back on any NW pattern. KIXZ has very little signal to the south (to protect 950 Lubbock) so there may be room for a new DFW WSW signal to slip in, since it would presumably aim towards Brownwood/San Angelo.

That's pretty much the way I see it, too. I didn't include Amarillo and Lubbock in the previous post, but those stations, along with WKY Oklahoma City had me thinking that the proposed pattern has to be mainly WSW. It'll be interesting to see the daytime power level as well; it's one of those deals where higher power would mean a tighter pattern. Offhand I'd figure that coverage into much of Collin County might be marginal at best. That's quite a factor, considering the rapid growth of that area and the proposed format.
