KT'R gets a new News Director - you may have heard of...

...KFYI's Michael Anthony. The Business Journal online is reporting today that Michael Anthony is going "across the street" to KTAR to be their News Director.Well, I'm a bit shocked. Of course, I worked at KFYI when Uncle Fred ran the joint and we all had non-competes (even us lowly non-revenue-producing news junkies), so I'm not used to the idea that a KFYI staffer could head over to 620.Good for Michael, who is truly one of the good guys in the biz. Hopefully he got a big, fat raise because he dang well deserves it.The Biz Journal article says Mike's been with KFYI about six years. He was actually with them in the very, very early days of KFYI; he left and came back. Back in 1986 he was so raw he wasn't allowed on the air except overnight. If you had asked him then if he thought he'd one day run KTAR's news department, I'm sure he'd have laughed all night. If you're reading this, "Scerless," Ed told me to tell you "you're broomed!"

Congratulations, Michael! One of the good guys in the business. Perhaps this will be a healthy shot of geritol for the old KT'R. Good Luck Michael! :)

Smart move by the Men In Secret Underwear! Guess this gives Jim Sharpe even more air exposure as the Chick Boss seems a bit constipated when it comes to hiring replacements  Think back to mid February when Scott Conner exited evenings...KFYI is STILL using subs. Nurse Jeff and I like what KT'R is doing with promos now; the soon to be KT'R-FM, and we were really impressed all their fulltimers worked Memorial Day while KFYI was Barry Markson fill-in city. Now if only KT'R could do something with their programming between 9am and Midnight ;)
