I have discovered KTRB's new website. After a couple of years of "Under Construction", Now it says "KTRB 860AM The Talk Station". However in the background to the left is an image of San Francisco and to the right is Musical Notes. Take your guess at what it means, though I have a feeling its move to San Francisco is coming up very soon. Check it out at http://www.ktrb860.com/

I agree KM, He must be spinning in his grave. I really wish that they would move the KTRB calls to 840-Modesto and move KPMP (or some other calls) to 860. Back to the KTRB website, I am just guessing that was an image of San Francisco in the background. It sure isn't Modesto

You are right, there are so many talk stations. Currently from Modesto, KTRB is a hodge podge mix of syndicated talk shows and brokered infomercials. In fact it seems like they are MOSTLY INFOMERCIALS. As I have mentioned in an earlier thread, On weekday evenings from 7M-11M, KTRB runs brokered Asian programming(mostly music) which deviates from the rest of the programming. I don't know if this will be THE KTRB when they move to San Francisco, tweak the Talk format or just debut another format? Your guess is as good as mine

I agree with you that 106.9 Free FM is a forgettable station, I was just adding to apco25 list of talk stations, a few which maybe forgettable too like 1550. And if 860 leaves their programming status quo(Syndicated Talk and Infomercials), KTRB will be as forgettable as 106.9 Free FM.

Does anyone know when the last time a new station/frequncy came into the market ala KTRB 860?
Re: KTRB-860 and other station location changes
Into the Bay Area? Never. There have been some stations that were within the market that readjusted to other nearby locales (such as KQW/KCBS relocating its COL from San Jose to San Francisco and its transmitter location from Alviso to Novato back in the 1940s), but no major relocations such as this one.The only other one I can think of that is this major is the pending move of KATD/990's transmitter to the Sacramento area, but its COL will remain Pittsburg.DJ(PS -- Ooooh, this new format is going to take a bit of getting used to.
