KTXD-TV Dallas to Me-TV February

Re: Figures

After I praised KTXD for getting an EPG on not only Me-TV but also Mexicanal (47.3), the damn EPG hasn't worked on any subchannel all this week. Oh, after one good day (Friday), 47.4 has been at 15 fps since last Saturday.

I sure hope these guys & gals can get these bugs worked out!

Good news: KTXD has the EPG's working again on both Me-TV and Mexicanal. (A couple of Me-TV schedule changes are coming next week; hopefully the EPG will reflect them. I'll let you know.)

47.4's still at 15 fps, though.

The audio still doesn't match the video, however. I forget which comes first, but they're not in synch.

I think that's a side effect of the slow frame rate. The video appears to lag behind the audio by a fraction of a second.

BTW, although I'm glad the EPG is back, they still need to extend it at least 24 hours into the future. A decent EPG is a must for DVR's: if the show you want to record isn't in the EPG, you have to set it to record like an old-fashioned VCR - an error-prone process.

Frame rate is fixed on 47.4. I emailed the station on Friday, got a reply that an engineer would be notified, and shortly thereafter it wad fixed.

Much better ;D Let's hope it stays fixed this time ::)

Also, the EPG matches the changes to the Me-TV schedule that went into effect Monday - so they seem to be keeping that current too ;D

They'd be perfect now if they'd give us even more Me-TV and fewer infomercials and Perry Stone Manna-Fest rebroadcasts from TBN - plus a longer EPG ;)

For what its worth, KTXD 47.4 has Me-TV right now while 47.1 has religious programming.

I was out of town this weekend so I didn't notice. But if it lasts, I'll try to DVR "Get Smart" next weekend ;D

It worked. Finally got my weekly dose of Don Adams. (Shame he's no longer with us.) Of course the DVR listed the recordings as religious shows, since that's what was on the EPG.

Get Smart! was one of those shows that I was too young to appreciate when it was on, and is now too dated (being a spoof of cold-war spy shows, not to mention the massive technology changes in the last 40+ years) to appeal to a wide audience today. So I'm glad I finally get a chance to see it now that I'm all grown up (OK, OK, now that I'm old).

Yes, technology has changed...but now there is something even more funny and prophetic in the scenes where Maxwell Smart's shoe phone rings in inappropriate places. ;D

... I just checked ... when I tried Ch.47 on my remote, it comes up as "46" on my TV (.1, .2, and .3), so I guess I'll wait a few days and do a re-scan....

That's actually good news; it shows they're working on things (even though they fouled up the PSIP).

Even if KTXD doesn't come up on 47, 46 should always work since that's their "real" (RF) channel and DFW doesn't have a virtual 46*. Once they have the PSIP fixed, the display should flip back to 47. After that KTXD should come up on 47 again w/o a rescan.

* If/when KUVN-CA flips to digital, they may use virtual channel 46, since their RF channel is 47, same as KTXD's virtual channel.

Shouldn't KJJM-LD use virtual channel 46 from it's former analog home.

You might think so - but they were still broadcasting in analog when they moved from channel 46! I was picking up their snowy channel 34 signal back in 2008. They flash-cut to digital circa 2010, but their virtual channel number reflects their final analog channel, not their original one.
